The Tent Project · Santa Clara & San Jose

Everyone deserves a safer night.

The Tent Project helps neighbors experiencing homelessness access essential shelter supplies, from new tents and sleeping bags to warm clothing. Together, we can offer a little more protection, comfort, and care.

Why it matters

A tent is not a home. But tonight, shelter matters.

Neighbors without stable housing face cold nights, rain and exposure with very little between them and the weather. Each of them deserves protection, dignity and compassion.

Lasting answers to homelessness take housing, services and time — and a tent doesn't replace any of that. What it can do is help with something immediate: a dry, private place to rest tonight, while longer-term help is sought.

That's where The Tent Project focuses. Practical supplies, offered with respect, to people right here in our community.

Immediate care and long-term solutions aren't in competition. People need both.

How we help

Small acts of care. Meaningful comfort.

We focus on three essentials, and we only buy or distribute brand-new items.

01 — Tents

A place to rest, out of the elements.

New tents offer basic shelter and protection: somewhere dry, a little privacy, and a space to keep belongings together.

02 — Sleeping bags

Warmth for the hardest hours.

A good sleeping bag helps people stay warmer and more comfortable through cold, difficult nights.

03 — Warm clothing

Protection you can carry.

Coats and jackets help protect against cold weather, during the day and through the night.

How it works

Helping begins with a simple step.

  1. 1

    Choose how to help

Volunteer, offer land, partner with us, or request supplies for your area.

  2. 2

    Get in touch

Email support@tentproject.org with a few details, or give us a call.

  3. 3

    We review it

The team reads every request and offer and follows up with any questions.

  4. 4

    We coordinate next steps

Together we plan what's possible, based on availability and circumstances.

We're a small, family-led project. We can't promise that every request will be met, and we aren't an emergency service. In an emergency, please call 911.
